'Wonder is the feeling of a philosopher, and philosophy begins in wonder’. — Socrates
Yarra Council in partnership with Melbourne School of Philosophy is once again delighted to offer an online, interactive series of six talks designed for people wondering about life’s bigger questions, or for those interested in Philosophy but with little or no experience of the subject.
The course is intended to give a simple ‘snapshot’ of how philosophy may be practical in everyday life.
After the success of our Philosophy begins In Wonder series during April and May, we now invite both past participants and newcomers to join the next series and to continue the inquiry.
The course is being made available on-line for those seeking to enrich daily life, engage in facilitated inquiry, gain insight through practice or just to enjoy like-minded company. Using both discussion and a simple contemplative approach, we consider some basic tenets from different philosophical systems arising 2,500 years ago until the present day.
Sign up for one session, two or all six. We will be welcoming new participants along the way.
We seek not to provide answers, but to encourage the spirit of inquiry through asking questions.
Registrations required. Email contact will be made prior to event start with event details.
