In One Act is an annual creative development program for new and emerging playwrights. See "Events Tab" on our Yarra Libraries website for full program application details and further information.

Thank you for your interest in participating in In One Act 2020. This rewarding free playwriting development program, presented annually by Yarra Libraries in partnership with Melbourne Writers' Theatre, is now in its fourth year. In One Act 2020 is open to aspiring and emerging Victorian-based playwrights who live in the City of Yarra and beyond, and in previous years has received a high volume of interest. For this reason, we ask applicants to complete the following short questionnaire about themselves, their writing interests/experience and writing goals.

Due to the current worldwide situation and the restrictions this places on social and other gatherings, Workshops #1 and #2 - scheduled for 13th and 20th June - will be delivered online via Zoom. Our hope is that we will then be able to deliver the remaining three stages of the program in the scheduled classroom and performance venues, as we have in previous years. Rest assured that however we present In One Act 2020, successful applicants can look forward to an engaging, stimulating and enjoyable creative experience!

In this dynamic program, being facilitated by Christine Croyden – an experienced playwright and dramaturge, each participant will develop skills in playwriting and will work towards the creation of their own original short play. A selection of plays that are deemed ready for showcasing will be selected for presentation to the wider public.

In One Act is a free program - however, writers wishing to participate are required to register their interest by 5pm Thursday 30th of April 2020.
